Will my husband be blocklisted if he has unpaid credit from ABN Amro Bank-Abu Dhabi?

My husband is an expatriate who used to work in Abu Dhabi. For personal reasons, he had to resign from his work and come back home. However, there's an unpaid credit left in ABN Amro bank amounting to AED4,000+ ($1,087). He requested his colleague, who is also a close friend, to pay even the minimum monthly credit due of AED100 so the bank may not consider the credit being in default until he will be able to go back to Abu Dhabi. However, his friend only made a one-time payment of Dh100+. His plan was to go back to Abu Dhabi after 6months. But it has been 10 months now and he has not able to go back to Abu Dhabi. Will he be blocklisted in the immigration by the bank or something?

  1. Eventhough that is the rule, it is all left to the bank to decide.

Bank must have tried to contact you, and since they have not been able to get a response from you, then there is a possibility that he is blacklisted.

The best way is to contact the bank by phone, and ask them the status of the account, and if they have taken any action.

Normally, they are flexible, and rest all depends on your luck.

It is better you call and check the status before you travel.

    Best of Luck.

  2. yes he will be blacklisted:::
  3. He will be blacklisted.
Why can't he repay the debt from his home country bank account?
